Project
Objective IV People are visual, make accounting a visual tool: The art of listening to your customers and
interpreting statements into computer applications is what UDS does for a
living. The green industry is extremely visual. “I use that plant in my
landscape proposals because of its varied colors and color phases.” “If I
could only show my buyers how good these plants look I know they would have to
buy them.” These statements mean that any accounting system that meets the
needs of this industry must include pictures of the plants. Most accounting
systems ignored the visual nature of this industry. Make UDS Windows System
integrate with images.
How does UDS include pictures of items in the inventory? Fortunately,
computers have become far more capable since this project began and we can now
provide thousands of large plant images without taxing system capacities.
It was a dream when we included up to eight pictures in the extended
description of items. We wondered if anyone would use this feature. With many
people enthusiastically pursuing the visual side of this industry, we now know
that careful listening pays off.
UDS provides many images as part of the accounting system. Many of the
plants have multiple seasonal images too. With the addition of the ability to
create pictures of finished landscapes, ActiveImaging
has changed the way accounting systems are viewed. Now you can create a full
picture catalog from the information provided with your accounting system.
The eight images per extended description is the beginning. Many
inquiries provide the capability to see those pictures. Obviously it becomes a
short step to where your customers in a kiosk or on the Internet can view these
pictures. Imaging as part of your accounting may seem to be a bit futuristic but
in actuality it should be a requirement. |
